A device that uses electromagnets to move steel materials is called an electromagnetic crane. The main part of an electromagnetic crane is the electromagnet. When the current is switched on, the electromagnet holds the steel object firmly in place and lifts it to the designated place. When the current is switched off, the magnetism disappears and the steel is lowered. Electromagnetic cranes are very easy to use, but they can only be used if there is an electric current, and they can be used in the steel recycling sector and steelworks.
Electromagnetic cranes can produce a strong magnetic force, tens of tons of iron pieces, wire, nails, scrap iron and other kinds of iron materials, without boxing or packing or bundling, can be easily collected and carried, not only to save effort in operation, but also to simplify the work. Iron and steel materials and machines packed in wooden boxes can be handled in the same way. When the crane is in operation, as long as the current in the electromagnet coil does not stop, the weight being sucked up will not fall, and the invisible magnetic force is more reliable than a strong chain. If for some reason the power is cut off, it can cause an accident, so some electromagnetic cranes are equipped with steel jaws that automatically drop down to hold the transported weights tightly once they have been lifted.
